History: Saif grew up in a small village east of the canyon. Having never met his adventurer father, Saif was raised by his mother, older brothers, and maternal grandfather.
Shortly after his 8th birthday, saif's father, Mora, finally came home. Saif was confused, but greeted his father warmly. The same could not be said for his siblings, who were downright hostile.
Mora gave Saif a gift: A pendant of Ikanan make. (Which he was unable to sell, or give to any ladyfriends.) Saif put it on, and immediately began to feel strange. He paid it no mind, thinking maybe he just had a cold.
That evening, when the children were sleeping, Mora and Sabeen sat down to talk, and Mora was given an ultimatum. "Stay, or don't bother coming back."
He was gone by morning.
Over the next 6 months, Saif seemed to get worse and worse. His body temperature dropped, his heartbeat was irregular, and his skin paled.
It was around this time the village started noticing an increase in undead activity. The undead were, thankfully, fairly passive, and did not actively attack. But their continued presence was disturbing.
The village consulted a shaman, in an attempt to find what was drawing them. Sabeen's unfortunate youngest was the source of their woe.
The family was nearly run out of the village, but the idea was discarded by the elders quickly, as one of their number was a member of the Calan family. Instead, it was decided that Saif would either die, or be banished, for the sake of the village.
The poor boy, only nine or so, was sent out on his own.
He made his way to Clocktown, but knowing very little common, he was stuck. Fortunately for him, a kind older boy, Amar, took him under his wing and helped him along. The pair worked as pickpockets. Saif would play the cute distraction, and Amar would empty them out. This kept up for several years.
When Saif was 14, he decided he had enough of the thieving game, and asked Amar if they could stop. They were young, and capable. They could work at other jobs. But Amar was having none of it. He wanted to join the Thieves Guild in Hyrule. Saif went with him, in an attempt to persuade him on the way. But once they reached Hyrule, Amar ran off, leaving Saif alone again.
He managed to start a modest delivery business, which, over time, evolved into a treasure hunting/retrieval business.
Years passed, and Saif threw himself into his work. Exploring dungeons, caves, etc.

However, one day, after exploring a quiet valley, Saif stumbled across a hotspring, of all structures. It's host and owner, Morpha, was charming and friendly. Until it was revealed that he was THE Morpha, of the water Temple. A small scuffle ensued, and Saif narrowly managed to survive, and corner the amoeba by trapping him in a waterskin. Their relationship started out rather rocky, but after a year or so together, they've made friends at last.

I'm four years late to the party, but I just wanted to say that this is an AMAZING character!

I love his tunic design, especially the pattern.  Spelunking is also a occupation I haven't seen before.
